Wednesday, August 31, 2011, New York, NY – On September 10 at 3 pm at Church of St. Paul the Apostle (60th and Columbus), Artistic Director Thea Kano will lead the New York City Master Chorale in a 9/11 Remembrance Concert to honor the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. The Empire City Men’s Chorus will be guests on this concert.

The Chorale will perform Paul Leavitt’s Requiem, accompanied by Mr. Leavitt at keyboard. Leavitt’s Requiem has been praised by The Washington Post’s Contributing Critic Cecilia Porte for successfully combining “the sense of overwhelming grief and consolation that suffuse the requiems of Mozart, Verdi, Brahms and Fauré.”  The Empire City Men’s Chorus will perform a repertoire of spirituals and reflective pieces. Both choruses will combine to sing John Tavener’s Song for Athene.

Donations will be accepted at this concert for Feel the Music!, a non-profit organization founded in the aftermath of 9/11 with the mission of using music and the arts as inspiration for children and families impacted by trauma, loss and illness.
