Scott Brown – President, Acting Treasurer,

A native of Shreveport, Louisiana, Scott couldn't have guessed how profound an influence ECMC would hold for him when he auditioned in 2009.  He is especially passionate about performing chamber and Renaissance music after more than 15 years of choral singing. He holds degrees in Music and Physics from Centenary College of Louisiana and an Electrical Engineering degree from Columbia University in New York.  He joined the ECMC board as Treasurer in the Spring of 2013 and has worked to develop a rigorous financial reporting system for the organization.  In the Spring of 2014 he was honored by his election to Vice President, and he now focuses on developing external business relationships and the internal management.  In his spare time he enjoys tennis, science and cosmology documentaries, New York nightlife, and live jazz and classical performances.


Anthony Pho – Vice-president

Anthony joined the ECMC in January 2014 and soon after joined the board.  Most recently he sang for a season with the Stonewall Chorale in NYC and prior to that he sang for nine years with San Francisco-based Golden Gate Men’s Chorus (GGMC) under the direction of Joseph Jennings.  He was a founding member of the group’s Counterpoint ensemble and served on the GGMC board in the capacity of CFO and later Chairman.  He spent 12 years in the technology industry in a variety of management positions working with start-ups and companies such as Yahoo and Microsoft. After a successful career change into nursing, he enjoyed diverse experiences working domestically and on global health projects in Haiti and Tanzania.  He currently works as a nurse practitioner at Weill Cornell Medical College where he does primary care and teaches in the medicine residency program and is adjunct faculty at NYU College of Nursing. He holds bachelor degrees from UC Berkeley and Johns Hopkins University and two master degrees from Johns Hopkins University. He is a life-long lover of choral music and like all good Asian children, he studied classical piano in utero.

A resident of NYC since 2006, Rodrigo is a graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor in Architecture and a minor in Theatre Studies. He started his choral performance career in the children's church choir in his native El Salvador. After moving to Southern California at the age of 10, he continued performing in school musicals well into high school. There he joined the Madrigal Choir, performing as a bass, then moving up to Tenor when joining the PolyPhonics in college. He and his fiance Mark-Eugene Garcia have continued the love for the performing arts by collaborating in the production of several plays and musicals, since moving to NYC. This is Rodrigo's third year with ECMC and second as a board member.



Edward first sang with the Empire City Men’s Chorus in 2002 for several years then returned in 2012.  He joined the board of directors in July 2013 and serves as the Chair of Digital Media and Marketing. In 2001, Edward founded his company TAF Buying Service, a fashion consultancy assisting international department stores with their buying activities in the U.S.  Edward originally hails from Cleveland, Ohio where he was born and raised.  He attended Western Reserve Academy for high school where he graduated Cum Laude as well as winning the English and the Arts awards. Edward then attended Vassar College where he received a Bachelor of Arts with honors in English.  Edward currently resides in New York city with his partner in the bustling new neighborhood around Hudson Yards.  Before working in fashion, Edward was a professional actor/singer/dancer in New York and a member of Actor’s Equity union,  performing on Off Broadway and touring with musicals around the U.S.  He continues to take ballet classes.  Edward also enjoys personal shopping and doing interior design with a select few clients.  He is excited to be working on his third interior design project, a rustic cottage in upstate New York. 



Westley was born and raised in West Palm Beach, Florida. He fell in love with music the day his parents played him his very first Michael Jackson song at 3-months old and he attempted to sing along. Westley's earliest training in vocal music came from attending Dreyfoos School of the Arts high school and he holds a BFA in Music Theatre from the University of Central Florida. Before joining Empire City Men's Chorus in 2014, Westley worked professionally as an Off-Broadway performer in various regional theaters, theme parks and cruise ships. Currently, Westley works as a VIP Program & Project Coordinator at the Hospital for Special Surgery and part-time as a vocal/audition coach. He is also a Founding Member, Music Director and Vocal Arranger for the vocal quartet, Bending Threads. Westley is proud to perform such exciting music repertoire with his ECMC brothers, and his even more proud to serve on the Board of Directors this year!




A born and bred New Yorker, Jim has been a member of the Empire City Men's Chorus since 2002.  In addition to his responsibilities as a member of the ECMC Board of Directors, Jim puts his Bachelors in Music and Masters in Library and Information Science to use as the Chorus Librarian.  In his spare time, Jim also sings with two other ensembles and is a former competitive freestyle wrestler (Silver Medalist, 1998 Gay Games).
